Local News Rachel's Challenge brings message of kindness to students, community Summit High School and the Summit Police Department are bringing Rachel's Challenge - a message of kindness and compassion - to its students and the Summit community on Thursday, February 11. Rachel Scott was the first victim of the Columbine High School shootings in 1999. Inspired by Rachel's kindness, compassion and journal writings, Rachel's Challenge was formed to spread her messages through educational and corporate presentations throughout the country. Craig Scott, Rachel's brother, will visit Summit High School to present two school assemblies, a training session, and an evening event for parents and community members. The evening program will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. in the auditorium of Summit High School, 125 Kent Place Blvd. There is no charge for admission. Continuo Arts Symphonic Chorus and Orchestra Receives Standing Ovation at Carnegie Hall
The Continuo Arts Symphonic Chorus and Orchestra played to a full house last Monday night at Carnegie Hall. Designed to ‘usher in the season to New York City and the World’ they rang in the holidays with a new, annual concert series in Carnegie Hall Christmas Time in the City, with the inaugural production this year under the baton of Candace Wicke, a Westfield resident. The two-hundred and sixty-five Symphonic Chorus included local singers from Westfield, Berkely Heights, Summit, Short Hills, New Providence, Maplewood, Basking Ridge, New York City and from as far away as Nebraska and Miami. The Continuo Arts Foundation will present The Lee Kjelson Memorial “Sounds of Music Series” in Carnegie Hall on April 14th featuring DESTINO, the knockout Canadian Tenors seen at the Bejing Olympics, the Continuo Arts Treble Chorus & Orchestra performing the Raminsh Missa Brevis, Hope by Gary Fry and a new world premiere finale by Gary Fry.
