Description: |
The Christ Child Society of Summit will hold their 4th Annual Luncheon and Baby
Shower on Friday the 26th of March at St. Teresa's Memorial Hall in Summit. The
event is the primary fundraiser for the group's layette program.
The non-denominational, not for profit organization whose members reach out to
teach, motivate, clothe and care for children in our community through the
initative of "Challeging Poverty: One Child at a Time" is dedicated to helping
children who are in need in the greater Summit area. One beneficiary of the
charitable efforts of the group include the Health Start Clinic for Women and
Children in Need at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Two years ago, The Christ
Child Society of Summit started a school supply program "Learn to Give, Give To
Learn". The program has provided school supplies to over 200 students in the 5
elementary schools, the middle school and the high school. Since their
inception several years ago the group has provided hundreds of layettes to the
Health Start Clinic and they are now in the process of extending their outreach
to include clinics affiliated with Morristown Memorial Hospital. The layette
Program's goal is to insure that each newborn seen at the Clinic will leave the
hospital with a newborn layette. The layette's include diapers, wipes, pajamas,
outfits, and a receiving blanket. The Chapter also has Knitting Angels group
that makes hand made items to include in the layettes. The layette items
usually cost $40 which can be a hardship to many of the families served.
The event begins with a Mass at 11:30 on the 26th. Luncheon follows
immediately thereafter. For information please contact the Group at
ccssummit@gmail.com or call 908 277 6009. In lieu of an entrance fee for the
luncheon, the donation of layette items, Pajamas and onesies size 6 months or
smaller and receiving blankets or the cash equivalent is suggested.
The Christ Child Society of Summit is a 501(c)(3)organization.
